I had never heard of this film when my wife ordered it from NetFlix, and I keep wondering why. This is a terrific flick. Jurnee Smollett as Eve is truly excellent, and not just "good for a kid," or "good but annoyingly precocious," she is just plain good.
Plot – Eve Batiste lives in Eve's Bayou, Louisiana, where her father Louis is the local doctor and has sexual relationships with his patients, while her mother Roz is a beautiful Afro-Creole woman. One night the child witnesses one of her father's betrayal, but her sister Cicely convinces her it's only a game.
